Clinical signs, diagnostic imaging and histopathology in a dog with granulomatous meningoencephalitis manifested as a polyneuropathy

An 11-year-old, female, neutered labrador retriever with a history of chronic and progressive right hindlimb lameness facial asymmetry was referred for brain lumbosacral magnetic resonance imaging cerebrospinal fluid analysis. Multifocal non-enhancing T2-weighted images hyperintense lesions were observed in the caudate nuclei medulla oblongata. The oculomotor nerve markedly enlarged showed marked enhancement on T1-weighted after contrast injection, there diffuse enlargement sciatic femoral nerves hindlimb. Cerebrospinal analysis mixed pleocytosis. Histopathology revealed granulomatous inflammation affecting brain, pelvic limb nerves, consistent diagnosis meningoencephalomyelitis.
